Welcome to the Division of Research and Graduate Studies. It is my pleasure to serve as the Dean for all graduate students at Acadia. Acadia offers 14 graduate programs.
What differentiates our programs from many others, and especially from those at large universities, is the nature of the student experience. Our size is small, our programs are rigorous, and our faculty members are extraordinarily centered on the academic and personal growth of their students. Graduate students have unique opportunities to develop close working relationships with their supervisors, as well as with students in other disciplines and from other countries. Our size also affords graduate students the opportunity to work with senior undergraduate and Honours students, frequently in a mentoring role.
Located in the charming town of Wolfville, in the beautiful Annapolis Valley (Canada's newest wine region!), size once again provides opportunities that might be less accessible in larger communities. Some students involve themselves in civic affairs and community service. For many, the union of academic opportunities, deep and abiding relationships, and community engagement encourages them to stay here forever after they graduate. Some do. Others wish they could. For all, Acadia leaves an indelible mark. Life changing, really.
